managed by the Junta Monseñor Romero, a group of coffee producers in the fair trade sector of the Dominican Republic, in cooperation with CTM - Altromercato, a pool of non-profit organizations.

In the last 4 years, the Junta has faced a serious economic slump, caused by hurricane George and by the threat of the Hypothenemus Hampey, an insect feeding on coffee leaves when they are still green. Both factors have brought the coffee production to a decline in the area.
The 48 pages of the book (opening a new book series entitled “Una piccola storia”) start with the typical fairy-tale incipit “Once upon time” and, photo by photo, they develop the cycle of coffee production, showing and describing to readers beans from precious coffee specialties, various typologies of grinding, typical coffee pots from different parts of the world. Each picture is accompanied with a short descriptive text, written both in Italian and in English.
In the appendix, Roberto Ricci analyses the Italian habit of drinking coffee in a very fast manner and praises the pleasure of a good cup of coffee, besides inviting readers to revitalize the memory of good taste. In addition, Alberto Hesse, honorary President of Trieste’s Coffee Association, reminds the serious recession of today’s coffee industry.
As it is said in the prologue, the only missing thing of these pages is indeed the chance of sipping a “great coffee”.

What is Sant'Eustachio Il Caffè
The Caffè Sant'Eustachio is a long-established firewood coffee roasting plant born in the 1930s, in the heart of Rome historical centre, a few steps from Navona Square and the Pantheon.

This brand is appreciated throughout the world for its coffee, a mixture of different top-quality coffee species coming from various countries. Its blend is roasted with firewood and without using any conservation additives. The result is a fresh coffee, which changes its aroma dozens of times during the year and is characterized with an unmatchable aroma, perfume and taste. It’s just thanks to the raw materials used that the Café can offer to its visitors the so-called “Great Coffee” for tasting, a coffee cup with a really special aroma and cream.

Founded in 1938, in accordance with its tradition, at Sant'Eustachio Café nothing has changed: the mosaic-works of the floor, its furnishings and the six tables in the open air are still the same. Symbol of the Café is the deer, evoking the pagan Eustachio’s appearance and his conversion to Christianity.

Opposite to the Café, in the same name square, is the Basilica of Sant'Eustachio from over 1 thousand years. At the top of the Church stands a white deer with a cross over its head.

1903 - Day of its foundation;

1945 - In this year Mr. Libralato Bruno Onorio was recruited as employee;

1956 - The Café and Coffee Roasting Plant was taken over by Mr. Onorio;

1996 - Last year of Mr. Libralato Bruno Onorio's management before dyng;

2004 - The company continues its activities through the management of his two sons, Anna and Franco.

Pride of the company is the craftsmanIike tradition in skilfully mixing the different coffee geographic origins and roasting modalities, using only traditional machinery which demands high professional skills and knowledge.

In 1968, Mr. Libralato Bruno Onorio replaced a Gaggia model from the Fifties with a still functioning 6-group coffee machine.

After a series of events, his sons Franco and his daughter Anna decide to take over the activity and to replace this coffee machine model. In their research, they find out the existence of Enrico Maltoni, a long-established collector based in the province of Forlì.

They contact him and decide to bring this design "treasure" back to splendour. The coffee machine is now part of Maltoni's collection.
