Wanting to go on Mars, a man addresses to the Recall agency and its virtual tourism, but he finds out that a plot to kill him is going on: he had already been on the red planet actually, but someone did a memory graft on him and created another life for him. Attention must be paid to the story in order to understand it, as there is a lot of action in the movie, with adventurous scenes which may distract one’s attention. Taken from the story “We can remember it for your wholesale” by Philip K. Dick, master of post-modern science fiction, the movie shows lots of ideas and inventions (most of all the kaleidoscopic fauna on Mars, with half-women, mutants and three-breasted females): perhaps it is the best movie by the Dutch director, with Schwartzy on top form and a caste, pre-Basic Instinct Stone. Tricks and effects by Bob (Rob) Bottin. (www.centraldocinema.it) |
