The exhibition will be open everyday from 10.00 am to 6,00 pm and will be hosted at the Rimini Trade Fair, Pavilion A-5.
In recent years, coffee has become an important topic of discussion and has gradually gained more importance, also in contexts absolutely far from the coffee industry. People's sensitiveness towards aspect which are not only commercial, but also cultural and related to the tradition has urged many collectors and coffee enthusiasts to devote themselves to the search for rarest objects, documents, and material concerning the espresso industry.
The idea of exhibiting the elegant silver-clad ladies of espresso coffee is born from the collaboration between the traveling exhibition project denominated Espresso made in Italy: history, culture and design - belonging to Collezione Enrico Maltoni based in Forlimpopoli -, and A.I.B.E.S. – the Italian Association of Barmen & Supporters.
Sixteen extraordinarily-preserved coffee machines which have marked the evolution of the espresso made in Italy will be exhibited at the pavilion A-5 of Pianeta Birra at the Rimini Trade Fair, from 10th to 13th of February, with the sponsorship of Lavazza, Rancilio and Eat a Cup (Pav. D7, stand n. 10).
For this occasion, Enrico Maltoni’s Collection and A.I.B.E.S. will share the same desire of spreading the culture of espresso coffee among the trade fair visitors as coffee represents one of the most fascinating habits of the Italian lifestyle all over the world.
After touching Thailand, Turkey, Greece, Israel, Venezuela, Russia, and England, as well as numerous Italian bars and locations, the itinerant project Espresso Made in Italy: history, culture and design has now reached its 31st destination. The Exhibition shows one of the most charming aspect of a century of Italian lifestyle, thanks to the wisely structured realization by architect Karim Azzabi from Design Network Milan. The history of espresso coffee began in the early 20th century with the production of the legendary vertically-columned coffee machine models, such as La Pavoni of 1905 and the Snider model of 1920 - in perfect Art Nouveau style. It then passed through the models Rancilio Preziosa of 1930 and Z8 of 1971, bearing the signature of Marco Zanuso, and included the Pavoni model Concorso of 1956 designed by Bruno Munari and Enzo Mari, as well as the San Marco model of 1952, also known as “Lollobrigida” for its rounded shape and soft lines. In most recent years, the evolution of espresso coffee machine design has been marked by the cutting-edge profile model B.L.U.E. LB 1000 (Best Lavazza Ultimate Espresso) designed by Pininfarina, representing the ultimate step and also the future of espresso design. All these coffee machines will show off at the Pianeta Birra for the first time in a unique event.
At the exhibition, it will also be possible to read and buy the second version of the book Espresso made in Italy 1901-1962, the first world publication on the history of espresso coffee. All interested visitors can consult the collection official website for further information: www.espressomadeinitaly.com.
Each coffee machine exhibited will be accompanied with the classic Lavazza set of cups.
For the Collection, this event is of particular interest as the Trade Fair Pianeta Birra - Beverage & Co. is the only European initiative devoted to the industry of beverages. This year the great innovations of the Trade Fair will meet the tradition and the culture of espresso coffee - a habit which has made the made-in-Italy production a real success all over the world.
